The goal of the work was to map the coral reef habitats of the Main Eight Hawaiian Islands by visual interpretation and manual delineation of IKONOS and Quick Bird satellite imagery. A two tiered habitat classification system was tested and implemented in this work. It integrates geomorphologic reef structure and biological cover into a single scheme and subsets each into detail. It also includes fourteen zones.\n\nFor more information, see http://coastalscience.noaa.gov/projects/detail?key=208", "summary": "NCCOS developed benthic habitat maps for shallow (<30 m) areas around the Main Hawaiian Islands", "title": "BenthicMapping_Hawaii_Dynamic", "tags": [ "benthic habitat zone structure cover coral" ], "type": "Map Service", "typeKeywords": [ "Data", "Service", "Map Service", "ArcGIS Server" ], "thumbnail": "thumbnail/thumbnail.png", "url": "", "extent": [ [ -160.59051806299, 18.8930456431431 ], [ -154.796886472474, 22.2791031545812 ] ], "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 1.7976931348623157E308, "spatialReference": "WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere", "accessInformation": "National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Ocean Service (NOS)/National Centers For Coastal and Ocean Science (NCCOS)/Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment (CCMA)/Biogeography Branch", "licenseInfo": "" }
