Service Description: This map shows the locations of glider data taken during the Deepwater Horizon incident. An underwater glider is a type of autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that uses small changes in its buoyancy in conjunction with wings to convert vertical motion to horizontal, and thereby propel itself forward with very low power consumption. Data display has been broken down by glider id and by month and links to the data as well as profile plots are made available from this map.
