Description: Bathymetry for Sarasota Bay was derived from six surveys containing 52,299 soundings. No surveys were omitted. The average separation between soundings was 51 meters. The surveys dated from 1953 to 1955 with the majority from 1954. The range of soundings for the six surveys was 3.7 meters to -9.1 meters at mean low water. Mean high water values of 0.6 or 0.7 meters were assigned to the shoreline. Six points were found that were not consistent with the surrounding points. These were removed prior to tinning. Sarasota Bay has eight 7.5 minute DEMs and a single one degree DEM.
