The Phytoplankton Monitoring Network (PMN) was established as an outreach program for monitoring marine phytoplankton and harmful algal blooms (HABs). In the Gulf of Mexico, HAB blooms observed by the network include Alexandrium monilatum, Dinophysis ovum, Karlodinium micrum, Prorocentrum minimum, Pseudo-nitzschia pseudodelicatissima, Pseudo-nitzschia multiseries, and Pseudo-nitzschia pungens. Time frame for these observations was from 2007 to 2010. |
