description: Sampling effort (number of plankton tows) of larval king mackerel (Scomberomorus cavalla), red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus), spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus maculatus), and vermilion snapper (Rhomboplites aurorubens) by 30-minute longitude by latitude blocks. Data are from 2,342 bongo net samples taken from 1986 to 2006 as part of plankton sampling associated with the Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) Fall Plankton Survey. Ichthyoplankton catch data from SEAMAP resource surveys in the Gulf of Mexico are used to map the distribution, abundance and occurrence of larval fishes. Data is limited to samples collected with 61 cm bongo nets fitted with 0.333 mm mesh nets during Fall Plankton surveys from 1986 to 2006.
