These layers were used in a Principle Component Analysis (PCA) that was used to generate the benthic habitat map using object oriented image processing software as described in Costa and Battista, 2013. The multibeam data used to create this map were collected over several years and were not coordinated with an effort to collect random accuracy assessment points. The points used as ground verification to create the map were not randomly corrected, but collected at specified sites by cooperators for specific habitat monitoring activities. Most of these non-random points were collected over coral reef areas with very few points collected over pavement or unconsolidated sediments.
