Layer: Rugosity (Surface Ratio) (ID: 263)

Parent Layer: Depth and Seafloor Topography

Name: Rugosity (Surface Ratio)

Display Field:

Type: Raster Layer

Geometry Type: null

Description: This data layer depicts the rugosity (roughness) of the seafloor offshore of the continental U.S. West Coast to 1200 m depth. It was derived from a synthesis of bathymetry datasets by calculating the ratio of the area of the contoured depth surface to the horizontal planar area in a 3x3 grid cell neighborhood. See the study technical report (Poti et al. 2020) for details.
