Layer: Cross-sectional Curvature (ID: 269)

Parent Layer: Depth and Seafloor Topography

Name: Cross-sectional Curvature

Display Field:

Type: Raster Layer

Geometry Type: null

Description: This data layer depicts the cross-sectional curvature (in Radians/100m) of the seafloor offshore of the continental U.S. West Coast to 1200 m depth. It was derived from a synthesis of bathymetry datasets by calculating in a 3x3 grid cell neighborhood moving window the curvature along the line of intersection between the depth surface and the plane formed by the slope normal and direction of slope. See the study technical report (Poti et al. 2020) for details.
