Description: This data layer depicts the percent composition of the mud fraction in surficial sediments offshore of the continental U.S. West Coast to 1200 m depth. It was derived by interpolation (Empirical Bayesian Kriging in ArcGIS Pro) of point sample data from sediment grabs compiled from the U.S. Geological Survey usSEABED database, the Henkel Laboratory at Oregon State University, and the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP).
